Aperture Capital is a Chicago-based private equity firm investing in mid-market American industrial businesses, including precision manufacturers, specialty chemical producers, and components shops with $20M to $100M EBITDA. The firm is built on a contrarian thesis in the category: hold companies for decades, use leverage conservatively, and keep the operators in place.

At Numinous Agency, we build brand systems for B2B companies that need to communicate seriousness and longevity, and that is what we did with Aperture. The work spans positioning, logo and mark design, typographic system, color palette, voice and tagline development, business stationery, presentation templates, environmental signage, and a publication system for annual letters and quarterly briefings.

The identity is anchored by a mark that encodes the firm's central conviction. Half striated and half solid, the mark reads as both an aperture and a thesis about how the firm sees the world. Clarity is partial. Conviction is total. The visual system extends that idea across every touchpoint, from the editorial typography to the documentary photography to the restrained palette built around warm cream, deep ink, and a single high-conviction blue.

The result is a brand built to communicate seriousness, patience, and intellectual rigor to limited partners, founders considering a sale, and the operators running portfolio companies. It positions Aperture as a firm that intends to last as long as the businesses it owns.
